St. John's University to Host "Human Trafficking - Whose Business Is It?"

The Travel Industry's Role in Ending Modern Day Slavery

The Vincentian Center for Church & Society at St. John’s University in collaboration with NY Coalition of Religious Congregations to Stop Trafficking of Persons-  NY-CRC-STOP, and LifeWay Network will host a presentation and discussions on the travel industry’s role in ending the tragic effects of human trafficking on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the D’Angelo Center, Room 416, on the Queens Campus of St. John’s University.

The keynote presenter will be Sandi D. Mitchell, formerly of Sabre Holdings, a global technology leader whose businesses include TRAVELOCITY. Sabre Holdings sponsors Passport to Freedom, a travel industry initiative committed to fighting child sex trafficking and human slavery through education, advocacy and survivor support.  Roundtable discussions with industry leaders, faculty, and experts in service and law enforcement will follow Ms. Mitchell’s presentation.

The conference is open to all those committed to ending this inhumane abuse currently epidemic around the world. Suggested donations to attend are $20.00 for adults and $ 5.00 (scholarships available) for students.  For registration and information visit www.stjohns.edu/trafficking
