be a rousing success.

Held
at the beautiful Spring Lake Golf Club, the event brought together
nearly 40 STJ alumni living in or around the Garden State for a fun
round of 18.
“This was a unique outing,” said Victor Ramos ’91CBA, ’93MBA,
Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “It’s always
great to gather with New Jersey alumni and reminisce about old
times, and I’d like to thank Kevin Reed ‘75C for all of his support
in making this happen.”
Foursomes enjoyed fantastic weather throughout the day, and the
legendary Gene Keady – Special Assistant/Advisor of the St. John’s
Men’s Basketball team – joined the guests during a dinner reception
afterwards.
“Coach Keady was right out of central casting,” said Reed. “I had a
dozen friends who came out to this dinner, and the reason they
attended was because they wanted to meet Coach Keady – and they
sure weren’t disappointed!”
Keady, former Head Coach of the Purdue Boilermakers and
longtime mentor of St. John’s Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Lavin,
discussed his famous rivalry with Bobby Knight and shared his
expert analysis of the upcoming Red Storm season.
“We were all glad to hear that Coach Keady is optimistic about this
year’s St. John’s team,” Reed said. “He is one of the greatest and
most respected men ever to coach on the collegiate level. We were
all grateful that he made the trip down the Shore to be with us,
and we are delighted that he is an important part of the St. John’s
family.”
