and Sciences, Physics
As he looks forward to a career serving others as a physician,
Jeff Grantham ‘08C recalls his four years at St. John’s as “a
preparation for life.” A former St. John’s President Scholar and
student-athlete, he learned the values of “responsibility in a
competitive world.”
A graduate of the physics program in the St. John’s College of
Liberal Arts and Sciences with a 3.96 GPA, this BIG EAST
Baseball All-Star strived for excellence throughout his academic
career. Jeff continues on path to great success by taking the
Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and is works s a physical
therapy aide in order to gain experience in the medical
field.
“St. John’s prepared me well for life after college,” he said. “The
classes were small and I gained personal relationships with my
teachers, something that doesn’t happen at every college.”
After taking the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) Jeff began
working as a physical therapy aide to gain experience in the
medical field. In medical school, he hopes to find the same caring
and helpful environment he had at St. John’s.
Jeff reminisced about his first impression of the Queens campus.
“It felt right. I liked the atmosphere—friendly, near Manhattan,
but on its own tree-lined campus in Queens, safe with a small
school feeling but with big school advantages and a diverse student
body.”
When reflecting back on his college experience, Jeff says he valued
the University’s commitment to its Vincentian heritage, “I
participated in a lot of community service at St. John’s – from
sleeping over at a local homeless shelter to helping out at a soup
kitchen. College was an eye-opening experience. I learned not to
take anything for granted.”
