| Subject: | Mid-Term Grading: Spring 2011 |
Given the University’s goals of enhancing student engagement and
supporting the academic progress of students, I write to remind you
of the University’s approach regarding mid-term grading for
freshmen. For the purpose of mid-term grade submission, the
University defines freshmen as all first-time undergraduate
students admitted for the current semester, regardless of the
number of credits they have, and all other undergraduate students
who have 24 or fewer credits.
You should receive rosters of your
freshmen students the week of February 28, 2011. We have turned on
the ability to submit mid-term grades. Mid-term Grades are
due by March 5, 2011. In accordance with
established practice, we will report to the Provost and Deans on
the progress of mid-term grade submission.
I take this opportunity to remind
you that mid-term grades are informational only. They do not appear
on transcripts. Although University policy requires that you
submit mid-term grades for freshmen, you are encouraged to submit
mid-term grades for all students. Friday, April 1,
2011, is the last day to withdraw from a class or to apply
for a pass/fail option.
I thank you for your past
cooperation in submitting mid-term grades. Mid-term grades afford
students a better understanding of their progress at this key point
in the semester, and help them in their planning for the remainder
of the semester.
Feel free to contact me should you
have questions.
