Latest Research: Dr. Cirelli has recently published an
article in the May edition of Heythrop Journal entitled
"Re-assessing the meaning of thought: Hans Urs von Balthasar's
retrieval of Gregory of Nyssa," and he is currently working on
a publication on the Christian Realism of Benedict XVI, as well as
a revision of his dissertation on Hans Urs von Balthasar.
Anthony Cirelli, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Theology and Religious Studies, earned his Ph.D. in Systematic
Theology from The Catholic University of America. His dissertation
addresses the relationship between Gestalt and freedom in the
theology of Hans Urs von Balthasar. His areas of
specialization include 20th Century Roman Catholic thought,
theological anthropology and patristic theology and he is currently
researching the influence of platonic form on patristic
epistemology.
While at Catholic University, Dr. Cirelli was the recipient of a
Wabash Center Teaching Fellowship and a Hubbard Fellowship.
