Francis D. Connolly-Weinert, Associate Professor of Biblical
Studies, specializes in the NT literature, particularly Luke-Acts.
He has published articles in The Journal for the Study of
Judaism, Revue de Qumran,
The Catholic Biblical Quarterly, and Biblical Theology
Bulletin, as well as To Touch the Text: Biblical and
Related Studies in Honor of Joseph A. Fitzmyer, S.J., along
with several entries in the Liturgical Press Introductory
Dictionary of Theology and Religious Studies, and also
Eerdman's Dictionary of the Bible. Key interests include
study of the social world of the New Testament, with stress on
pilgrimage as a religious phenomenon, the role of the Temple in
early Christian thought, and the impact of the emerging NT canon in
second-century Christianity on its subsequent interpretation. A
member of several learned societies, including the Society of
Biblical Literature, The Catholic Biblical Association, The
American Academy of Religion, and the College Theology Society, he
has served as journal editor and president of The National Honor
Society for Religious Studies and Theology
(Theta Alpha Kappa), and been named to the Directory of
American Scholars, The International Who's Who in Education, Who's
Who in Biblical Studies and Archaeology, and Who's Who in America.
He currently serves as Secretary-Treasurer and Representative for
the Mid-Atlantic Region of the American Academy of
Religion.
