Educational Background
He completed his baccalaureate degree in philosophy at Mary
Immaculate College, Pennsylvania in 1951.
He taught English and Theology at Niagara University, New York,
from 1955 to 1960. During that same period he was Assistant to the
President for Development and then Director of Student Activities.
In 1957 he received his master’s degree in English from Niagara
University.
From 1960 to 1963 he studied Moral Theology at the University of
Fribourg, in Switzerland and received his Doctorate in Sacred
Theology from that university in 1963.
From 1963 to 1966 he taught theology and philosophy at Mary
Immaculate Seminary in Northampton, Pennsylvania, while serving as
Director of Seminarians.
From 1966 to 1968, he served at Dean of the Graduate School of
Arts and Sciences at St. John’s University and from 1968 to 1975 he
was Dean of St. John’s College. He was placed in charge of Student
Life at St. John’s in 1975 when appointed Vice President for
Student Affairs.
Since 1983 he has taught moral theology in the graduate and
undergraduate programs as a faculty member .
