Objectives

Through writing, speech and quantitative methods, students will develop an in-depth understanding of theory and practice in psychology. They will gain a knowledge base in research methods in psychology, critical thinking, socio-cultural and international awareness.  In addition, graduates of the program learn to apply this knowledge to the practical psychological issues facing our contemporary society.

Students will be prepared to:

  • Display an overall knowledge of the scientific foundations of the discipline, including the ability to understand the psychological, social, and biological processes underlying normal and abnormal behavior.
  • Exercise the ability to think critically and to integrate psychological theory and research into solutions to solve social problems and to seek social justice.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the interaction of human behavioral patterns. In its professional programs, the department has the added objective of fostering the highest standards of professional practice and ethical conduct.
