Abbreviated Biography
In 1979 Miguel Roig received his B.A with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy from Jersey City State College (now The New Jersey City University). Subsequently, he enrolled in the General Experimental Psychology program at St. John’s University receiving his M.A. degree in General Experimental Psychology in 1981. From St. John’s, Miguel went on to study at the Newark campus of Rutgers University and received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Studies in 1989. During that time, he taught psychology courses at various institutions in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area and also worked as a Tests and Measurement Specialist for the New York City Department of Personnel from 1984 to 1987. From 1987 to 1989 he was a full-time instructor at Wagner College in Staten Island and in September of ’89, Miguel was hired as an assistant professor of psychology in St. John’s Notre Dame College (Staten Island campus; now part of St. John’s College of Arts and Sciences).

Research Interests
In recent years, Miguel has carried out research with his students in the area of academic dishonesty and has lectured on the prevention and detection of student plagiarism and on the need to develop a more ethically sensitive approach to writing. His current interests lie in what has come to be known as the Responsible Conduct of Research with a special emphasis on the problems of plagiarism and other ethically questionable writing and authorship practices.
