Abbreviated Biography
In 1979 Miguel Roig received his B.A with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy from Jersey City State College (now The New Jersey City University). Subsequently, he enrolled in the General Experimental Psychology program at St. John’s University receiving his M.A. degree in 1981. From St. John’s, Miguel went on to study at the Newark campus of Rutgers University and received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Studies in 1989. During that time, he also taught psychology at various institutions in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area and also worked as a Tests and Measurement Specialist for the New York City Department of Personnel from 1984 to 1987. He re-joined the St. John’s family as a faculty member in 1989.

Research Interests
Miguel has carried out research with his students in the area of academic dishonesty with an emphasis on student plagiarism. That work led him to investigate the problem of plagiarism, as well as other unethical writing practices, in scholarly and scientific writing. His current research interests also include the general area of authorship and related issues that fall within the scope of responsible research conduct.
