Prof. Chasen-Cerreta has been teaching geology and physics at
St. John's since 1980. She worked for AOL for many years, helping
to develop online areas, managing a staff of community leaders and
fostering online communities.
She is experienced in online education, offering her
geology and scientific inquiry geoscience courses in the Distance
Learning program, and uses web-based materials as a supplement to
her geology lecture course.
She is a faculty member in the Scientific
Inquiry section of the Institute for Core Studies. The
Institute for Core Studies was established by St. John's to
enhance service to our students during their crucial first two
years of undergraduate study, and consists of faculty who teach
primarily in the three core specialties of Discover New York,
English Composition, and Scientific Inquiry.
Professional Activities
Prof. Chasen-Cerreta is a member of the Geological Society
of America, Mineralogical Society of America, American Institute of
Physics/American Crystallographic Association, New York Academy of
Sciences and American Association for the Advancement of
Science.
