Primarily deals with the statics of particles and rigid bodies. Vectorial methods are used extensively. Topics include equivalent systems of forces, equilibrium of a rigid body, centroids and centers of gravity, distributed loads, analysis of trusses, frames, and machines, shear and bending moment in beams, and cables with concentrated and distributed loads.
