We have a vibrant student community. The St. John's
Chapter of the Society of
Physics Students (SPS) seminars include prominent guest
speakers as well as our own faculty who present their research
and research opportunities for students.
Our students engaged in research and undergraduate research
internships also conduct SPS seminars to share their
experiences with their peers.
Sigma Pi Sigma, the
national physics honor society, is a part of SPS,
electing members on the basis of outstanding academic
achievement. Chapters are restricted to colleges and universities
of recognized standing offering strong physics major
programs.
Both are a part of the larger American
Institute of Physics, the professional organization which
promotes the knowledge and advancement of physics and its
application to society world-wide.
