PROFILE
Henry Piper has been a member of the Philosophy Department since 2004.  Dr. Piper received his Ph.D. at Penn State with a dissertation on Kierkegaard's concept of the self, with an emphasis on Kierkegaard's signed works, which he plans to develop into a book.  Prior to graduate school, he served as a legal services attorney in Appalachian eastern Kentucky for four years, specializing in public housing, consumer finance and bankruptcy, and domestic relations involving abuse.  He is an active member of the American Philosophical Association and the New York County Lawyers' Association.  He is interested in photography, film, theater, and the history of art.
