Study Abroad Programs

The Department of Languages and Literatures encourages students to take advantage of St. John’s University’s Study Abroad Programs. These programs are a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a foreign language and culture, visit world renowned sites and better understand the global dimensions of today's world. The Office of Global Studies currently offers Study Abroad programs during all academic terms, including Winter Intersession and Summer Session. Scholarships are available.

Summer Abroad Programs
St. John's students, whether they are language majors or not, can take advantage of language and culture courses offered every summer for credit in a wide variety of countries. Courses are taught by an experienced St. John's University professor. The faculty member will also be available to advise students and help them adjust to the new culture. For dates, cost, and a list of programs and courses offered, please contact the Office of Global Studies.

Semester/Year Abroad Programs
Students who are language majors or minors can also spend an entire semester/year studying abroad on our Rome or Paris campus, or in our innovative Discover the World program, for full immersion in the targeted language and culture, and for credits towards their St. John's undergraduate degree. Courses may be conducted in the foreign language or in English.

Internship Abroad Programs
In addition, language majors and minors can participate in summer or semester-long internship programs in the above-listed countries. Internships are selected to correspond to the student's field of interest and specialty. Scholarships for internships are available.
