The B.A. in History Education is intended for those students who
wish to pursue careers in secondary education, with a
specialization in History/Social Studies, and who will graduate
after May 2003. (Students who graduate by May 2003 may enroll in
the regular B.A. program in History and do their minor in Education
under the old rules.) The new program requirements are as
follows:
Core Courses*, 60 credits
Major in History, 33 credits
U.S. History, 6 credits
European History, 6 credits
Non-Western History, 6 credits
History electives, 12 credits
Seminar or Colloquium, 3 credits
Professional Courses required for NYS
Certification including Associate Teaching
Experience, 36 credits
Minimum Total*, 129 credits
*For students who first enrolled at St. John's University in the
fall of 2001 or later.
