Senior Seminar (3 credits, 1 course)

  • Students must take one seminar, ranging in number from EN 4991-4

Electives (9 credits, or 3 courses)
To complete the major, students may choose from any English course above the 2000 level. Students may count ENG 2100: Literature and Culture only once toward the major if they have taken more than one section of the class.

Note
Majors need to be aware that English courses offered by the College of Profesional Studies (CPS) do not count toward a St. John's College English major. Students should choose their English electives from the menu of courses published each semester by the St. John's College English department, either advertised on the department webpage or distributed on department fliers.

Core Curriculum
All St. John's College B.A. students also take 48 credits of University Core requirements. View more information about these requirements within the Undergraduate Bulletin.

This degree also utilizes the St. John's College Core Curriculum for satisfying 12 additional credits of the degree. The 12 credits must come from one Art or Music course, and three courses from within three different fields outside of a student's major area of study.

Transfer students may negotiate the transfer of credit with the College Deans in Rm. 145.

Free Electives
30 credits, chosen from the courses offered through any of the undergraduate units of St. John's University. Students may also choose to fulfill the requirements for any of the minors offered throughout the university.
