Student Affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society St. John's University
The student Affiliate Chapter of the American Chemical Society at St. John's University allows students who are interest in chemistry to become involved in the American Chemical Society.  The Student ACS sponsors seminars, workshops, and social events.  They are have presented Chemistry is Fun shows for elementary school kids, visitors to the Hall of Science and Bring Your Child to Work days.

Student Awards
Each year the Department of Chemistry gives out awards to students of distinction.

Handbook of Chemistry and Physics

General Chemistry Award
Given to the General Chemistry major with the highest average.

Organic Chemistry Award
Given to the Organic Chemistry major with the highest average.

Analytical Chemistry Award
Given to the Analytical Chemistry major with the highest average.

Physical Chemistry Award
Given to the Physical Chemistry major with the highest average.

Gold Key
Annually, a Gold Key for academic excellence is awarded to a senior in each department of St. John’s College. The recipient of each award is selected by the Dean of the College on the basis of the student’s outstanding scholastic achievement in his/her major field, the student’s overall academic performance and the recommendations of their department’s faculty.

Silver Key
Silver Keys are also awarded to outstanding juniors in each major department, based on similar criteria.
