EDU 3271: Literacy Best Practices Informed by Research

Course Description
Examines literacy instruction as informed by scientifically based research and best practices of the field. Course components focus on the processes of
word reading to include phonemic awareness and phonics, vocabulary development, fluency, reading comprehension, writing development, motivation and affective engagement through the grades, integration of reading/writing strategies in the content areas, classroom management via grouping patterns and progress monitoring assessment. Field work on course project required. (Credit: 3 semester hours)
