Alpha Beta Gamma Chapter

Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honor Society in Education that is committed to recognizing excellence and fostering mutual cooperation, support, and professional growth for educational professionals. The Alpha Beta Gamma chapter was installed on April 6, 2003 on the Staten Island campus. The chapter includes both undergraduate and graduate students.

The requirements for induction are as follows:

Criteria for admission

Undergraduate

  • No less than final-term sophomore standing (at least 50 semester hours)
  • A cumulative grade point average ranking not less that 3.3
  • At least 12 semester hours of professional education courses programmed, in progress, or completed

Graduate

  • Matriculated student status
  • Completion of six or more semester hours of graduate work in the same institution applicable to the degree program in which the student is enrolled
  • At least 12 semester hours of professional education courses programmed, in progress, or completed
  • A cumulative grade point average on all graduate work undertaken of at least 3.7

Students who qualify are sent letters in the Spring semester and are invited to apply for membership.  Initiation ceremony usually takes place in March/April.
