Kappa Eta Chapter
Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society in
Education, is dedicated to scholarship and excellence in Education.
The Kappa Eta Chapter was installed in 1964 at St. John’s
University- Queens campus. This organization provides seminars and
conventions for students who wish to become teachers. As part of
the St. John's campus, Kappa Delta Pi actively participates in on
and off campus community service projects, various philanthropies
and professional development activities. In order to be considered
for membership, the student must have a minimum of a 3.25 grade
point average as well as complete a certain number of events each
semester.
Contact letters are sent out during the summer for students who are
interested. During the month of September students are
required to respond by email and complete an additional packet if
they show continued interest.
Additional criteria required for
Initiation
- Complete KDP application and membership form
- Must have a 3.25 Grade Point Index
- Attend monthly meetings
- Complete 12 KDP sponsored events before being inducted
- 4 Events for STAR (Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors)
- Pay local and national dues
- Attend Committee Meetings
- Complete Induction Ceremony during the Spring of the
semester
Membership is open to both undergraduate and graduate

Alpha Beta Gamma
Chapter
Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honor Society in Education that
is committed to recognizing excellence and fostering mutual
cooperation, support, and professional growth for educational
professionals. The Alpha Beta Gamma chapter was installed on April
6, 2003 on the Staten Island campus. The chapter includes both
undergraduate and graduate students. The requirements for
induction are as follows:
Criteria for admission
Undergraduate
- No less than final-term sophomore standing (at least 50
semester hours)
- A cumulative grade point average ranking not less that 3.3
- At least 12 semester hours of professional education courses
programmed, in progress, or completed
Graduate
- Matriculated student status
- Completion of six or more semester hours of graduate work in
the same institution applicable to the degree program in which the
student is enrolled
- At least 12 semester hours of professional education courses
programmed, in progress, or completed
- A cumulative grade point average on all graduate work
undertaken of at least 3.7
Students who qualify are sent letters in the Spring semester and
are invited to apply for membership. Initiation ceremony
usually takes place in March/April.
