The School of Education Barbeque was a great success, despite the
unwelcomed rain showers. Students, incoming freshmen, transfer,
upperclassmen, faculty, administrators, and staff gathered together
to start off the 2011-2012 academic year on a positive note and to
re-connect the “old with the new” over a delicious meal.
S.T.A.R., Students Teaching Academic Responsibilities, a mentoring
program in The School of Education, welcomed new freshmen and
transfer students by pairing them with an upperclassman
mentor. S.T.A.R. members had the chance to meet and discuss
their experiences, questions, concerns and comments about the
School of Education and their St. John’s University experience with
their buddies. This barbeque was the perfect way to kick off the
new school year and serve as a preview to all of the great
upcoming events in the School of Education!
