The School of Education Experience

Welcome to the School of Education!

The School of Education would like to welcome you all to our family as we continue our Centennial celebration.  Joining you, will be the diverse community of faculty, students, and distinguished alumni, as you begin your journey to one of the most rewarding and challenging professions.  At The School of Education you will learn not only the skills to become a successful educator, but also gain the experience and learn how to make a difference.

The power of education is an important part in bringing a prosperous and peaceful world, and here at the School of Education you will be exposed to a world of academic excellence and service.  Through academic service learning and community service you will experience learning at its best by working and growing with others.  Students will observe, train, and work with professional educator’s right from the beginning of their journey as a future teacher.

Here at The School of Education we value giving the opportunity of learning globally to our students.  Our students learn on a global level to experience and sharpen their knowledge of our growing global community through various global studies academic and service programs

The School of Education provides an effective and productive learning environment for future educators to lead a life of success, opportunity, and excellence.  They are true examples of living the Vincentian mission of St. John's as they commit to the ideals of service.  The experiences, knowledge, and love that you receive from The School of Education and St. John’s will remain with you in your heart for your entire lifetime.

"As a special education major, I entered the School of Education ready to take on anything.  I soon encountered a great sense of community and found it easy to gain insight and experience.  The advisors are accessible and take the time to get to know their students which makes us feel that we are important and more than a student ID number at St John's.  There is also a feeling of spirit that can be appreciated by the freshman, the senior, or adult learner."

"I love the closeness of the school, everyone knows everyone even professors.  You are always seen and treated like family when getting advised which is always helpful because they helped thoroughly with your entire education.

Other schools may give classes but at St. John’s they
help with the entire process of getting certified. They give the seminars, the finger printing, tell everyone about the tests that must be taken.  An SOE student is never uninformed.
