“You strike a woman, you strike a rock.”
There is a Chinese proverb: "An invisible red thread connects
those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or
circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never
break." Today, I shook the hand of the man who killed Amy Biehl and
I realized that he inspires me. Amy Biehl’s story is one of true
forgiveness. Her killer works for the foundation in her name. Amy
was destined to meet the people of South Africa and she was
destined to die a sad and irrational death by crime. However, the
death of one Amy, is keeping hundreds of kids alive. So, when I met
her killer, I was not looking into the eyes of the man who had
committed a crime; I was looking into the eyes of a man that making
a difference. The Amy Biehl Foundation offers so many healthy
outlets to the children of South Africa—their after school programs
are safe-havens where kids can be kids by playing, singing,
dancing, and making music.
