SCI 1000C: Scientific Inquiry: Geosciences

Course Description
This course, found in the Course Offerings under University Core Distance Learning, is an integrated study of the scientific method in relation to the theories and principles which define the earth's formation as a planet and the formation of the earth's surface through the historical development of plate tectonics theory.

Students will understand the geologic time scale in its relation to the rock and fossil records and the sequence of life on earth and the role of the geoscientist in today's society. During the course will we be using a website with links to online message boards, e-mail, online documents, discussions designed to develop the student's scientific thinking regarding earth processes, hyperlinks to various scientific sites with interactive online activities such as models and livecams, and the use of the CD-ROM which is included with the textbook for reading assignments.
