Qualified foreign students are admitted into all undergraduate
schools of the University. Such candidates must have superior
academic records, show proof of financial responsibility and be
thoroughly competent in the English language. For overseas
applicants, the last requirement is determined by the results of
the “Test of English as a Foreign Language.” This test is given by
the Educational Testing Service. Complete information concerning
the test can be obtained by writing to: TOEFL, Educational Testing
Service, Princeton, New Jersey 08450.
Applicants whose TOEFL scores do not indicate satisfactory
English proficiency will be considered for the non-credit Intensive
English Program (IEP). Since IEP students are conditionally
admitted to the University, they must meet the admission
requirements. After the successful completion of IEP, students are
admitted to the degree program that they have selected. In
addition, all applicants must take a University-sponsored English
placement examination prior to the start of their academic studies
at St. John’s.
Applicants must present a formal application,
official school records and results of the TOEFL
examination. All documents in languages other than English must be
accompanied by certified English translations.
Completed applications and official school records need to be
submitted by June 1 for the fall semester and
November 1 for the Spring semester. However,
applicants must first adhere to any specific deadlines relating to
their individual program of study.
Any questions concerning specific information about University
programs or admission procedures, should be directed to Office of International
Admission.
