Center for Professional Education
For more than 30 years,The Center for Professional Education at St. John's School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science has offered workshops, certificate programs and professional designation examination preparation courses, as well as consulting services to industry, governments and regulators worldwide. The Center has served the educational needs of more than 10,000 professionals in the insurance, risk management and financial services industries.

The Brief Course in Reinsurance will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at the Manhattan Campus, 101 Astor Place, New York, NY. This course is designed for those individuals who need to know the basic elements of reinsurance and how it functions, without the technical material. Administrative and accounting personnel, systems analysts, human resources and other non-reinsurance professionals will benefit from this course. A basick knowledge of insurance is required. The Fundamentals of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) will be held on Tuesday, May 12 at the Manhattan Campus, 101 Astor Place, New York, NY. This workshop is based on the best practices and research conducted at dozens of major organizations. This course is designed for professionals wanting to build or understand their ERM capbilities, regulators responsible for reviewing ERM processes, risk managers wanting ot leverage traditional risk management into ERM, government agencies seeking to comply with OMB A123, board members with risk oversight responsibility, or auditors trying to expand their coverage to an ERM approach. Topics covered will include but are not limited to: risk and decision-making; value proposition of ERM; ERM as a core competency; ERM keys, barriers and principles; risk identification and assessment techniques; linking ERM to strategy; examples of ERM frameworks, processes, and action planning. The course will be taught by Paul L. Walker, Ph.D., CPA, James J. Schiro / Zurich Chair in ERM. The course is $875. Custom programs for corporate clients
The Center provides custom programs and services, including benchmarking, which are designed to meet the specific requirements of corporate clients and unique audiences. We can deliver classroom training at our new, state-of-the-art location in downtown Manhattan or on site at a location of a client's choosing, including overseas.
Our programs can range from one day to several months in length, depending on a client's needs and interests. Our approach is highly collaborative, and our faculty are drawn from academics, industry experts and practitioners, all of whom are chosen for their breadth of knowledge and relevant experience.
We can also design, deliver and host online programs developed to a client’s specifications. These programs can be instructor-led or self-paced.
The Center's clients include KPMG, AIG, C.V. Starr, Arch, RMS, Crum & Forster, Navigators, and ACE, among many others.

International School of Management
The Center has a relationship with the Paris-based International School of Management and its affiliates, all of whom offer programs at various levels of graduate education. Students who are receiving their degrees from those schools take custom-designed courses at the Center as part of their studies. Credits and degrees are granted by the affiliated schools.
