Learning Outcomes and Assessment

Throughout this past year, many faculty have begun a discussion of student learning, focusing on program goals, program learning outcomes and possible methods of assessment. As anticipated, a campus conversation about improving learning outcomes is beginning.  Much is still a work in progress, and the Web site has been updated to reflect continuing faculty input.

This year we are focusing on completion of program curriculum maps, on revision of all departmental course syllabi to mirror the language of the revised program goals and learning outcomes and on measurement of learning outcomes.

We are asking that all programs, at the conclusion of the Spring ’08 semester, provide an assessment that indicates program graduates have achieved the stated program learning outcomes.  Programs with licensing exams may use that assessment as it becomes available.
