Learning Outcomes and Assessment

An ongoing campus conversation about improving student learning outcomes involving considerable faculty input characterizes St. John’s. Much emphasis has focused on articulating, documenting, and assessing the learning outcomes at the institutional, program, and course levels.

Most of the work has been accomplished. Almost all expectations for student learning have already been published, along with specific curricular program requirements, on the website of each program. They will also be referenced in the new revision of the undergraduate Bulletin, which will be published in 2009 and the next revision of the graduate Bulletin, which will be published in 2010.

We also recently adopted WEAVEonline®, a web-based assessment management system to support and document the planning, implementation, and results of assessment initiatives at the academic program level.
