The Early Alert System: If you observe a student is experiencing academic difficulty or dealing with other problems, you can flag the student for early intervention. Access the Early Alert System through UIS and click the “Faculty Services” tab, then click the “Detail Roster with Photo” button. If you are on St. John's Central, use the "UIS" tab. If you need immediate contact, call the University Freshman Center at (718)-990-5858.
The University Learning Commons is located in the Library, Room 103 (next to the Library Café ). Students can schedule an appointment with a tutor by visiting the office or calling 718-990-3228/6566. Students can now make online appointments on the University Learning Commons website.
The University Writing Center is located in the Library, Room 150 (Queens campus) within the Institute for Writing Studies (Staten Island location is in Mahoney Hall 102) . Students can schedule an appointment online or drop-in for a session with a peer tutor. They can also receive support through online chat sessions or by emailing a paper. University Library: Students may consult with librarians one-on-one in person, online through the Ask Us! website, or via text at 1-917-652-6936. Hours of operation for the physical facility and our extensive electronic databases are available at the University Libraries website.
The Global Language and Culture Center (GLCC): St John’s College Department of Languages & Lite-ratures runs this state-of-the-art language resource center where students, (whether they are registered or not in a language class), can practince one of the 14 languages currently offered at St John’s University. The center conducts numerous worshops and administers language placement tests. It is equipped with group study areas, individual language pods, computers, large screen TVs and reference material.
