St. John’s University presents “Bird In Verse,” an exhibition of
prints and paintings by Heather E. Dunn, Adjunct Professor of Fine
Arts at St. John’s. The exhibition will be on display at the
University’s Manhattan campus, located at 101 Murray Street,
(between Greenwich and West Street). The exhibition is free
and open to the general public January 15-May 1, 2008. The gallery
is open Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
There will also be a special reception with the Dunn on Friday,
February 1 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. This event is also free and
open to the public.
Dunn’s work is a personal extension of her inner life and
collaboration with her husband, poet Michael Alpiner. Dunn’s
work chronicles her life, starting with her husband’s battle with
Hodgkin’s disease, and continuing through the birth of their
daughter, Emma. A bird theme ties the work together by representing
an Arcadian spiritual aspect, motherhood, and the solace her
husband and she find in bird watching.
