Shalrie Joseph made his third straight appearance in the MLS Cup as a member of the New England Revolution. Joseph was named an MLS Best XI at the end of the season for the second time, earned his fourth selection to the All-Star team and also served as a team captain of the All-Star team. For the past two seasons Joseph has named to the All-Star team as a First XI selection, a distinction given to the top vote-getters in the league. In a ranking published by Yahoo! Sports, Joseph was rated as the best player in the MLS. "Strong and intelligent, Joseph is the heartbeat of the Revs," the article said. Joseph holds a share of the New England club record with six career penalty kicks made.

In 2007, Joseph started in all 27 games in which he played. The defensive midfielder tallied four goals and five assists during the regular season and also picked up two assists during four post season games. Joseph was selected by the Revolution as the 14th overall pick in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft.
