New Faculty Orientation
This is a two-day program to be held on
Tuesday, August 21 and Wednesday, August
22. You will receive an invitation, but please mark
your calendar for this important introduction to the
University.
On August 21 you will meet administrators and faculty who will
tell you about the University, its mission, and the resources it
offers. In addition, there will be time for discussion on
issues of teaching and research as well as an exploration of how to
develop your academic career at the University.
The program for August 22 includes laptop distribution, discussion
of computer-related information, introduction to library resources,
and finally, a session on benefits provided by the Office of Human
Resources.

Faculty Assembly time and location: 10:30 a.m.,
Auxiliary Gym, Carnesecca Arena
Dress: Academic Attire
Immediately following, there will be individual school/college
ceremonies and department lunches. You will be directed to your
individual school/college ceremony together with your dean.
New Student Convocation-Staten
Island Campus
Date: August 28, 2012
Place: Campus Center, Upper Level
Faculty Assembly time and location: 8:45 a.m.,
Campus Center, Lower Level
Dress: Academic Attire
Immediately following, there will be a brunch reception held in the
Campus Center, Upper Level.
If you are planning to attend any of the ceremonies
above, you will need to register and if necessary, order academic
attire, by Friday, August 10, 2012. To register and get more
information on ordering and picking up rental attire, please

General Faculty Convocation

Time: 4 p.m.
Place: Auxiliary Gym, Carnesecca Arena
Dress: Business Attire
It is a tradition at the University to have a Faculty Convocation
before the start of the academic year. the convocation will provide
us the opportunity to introduce our new full-time faculty members
to the community as well as honor those faculty who have served the
University for many years. New full-time faculty will be presented
by their respective deans and are expected to attend the event. You
will receive an invitation from your dean's office and you are
asked to please confirm your attendance before Tuesday, August 21,
