Award The Fellows receive a stipend of $2,400 per month and health insurance, plus travel expenses to Washington, DC. The program also provides $500 per fellow to attend relevant conferences or meetings that could cover travel, accommodations, and registration fees. Some lenders may permit Scoville Fellows to defer college loan payments during their fellowship. Check with your individual lenders.Application deadline The application is due October 1, 2013.Qualifications Students must have their baccalaureate degree by the time the fellowship starts. Preference is given to United States citizens, although a Fellowship to a foreign national residing in the U.S. is awarded periodically based on availability of funding. History The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship, established in 1987, is a highly-competitive national fellowship program that provides college graduates with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Twice yearly, the Fellowship’s Board of Directors selects a group of outstanding individuals to spend six to nine months in Washington.
