St. John’s University’s Institute of Asian Studies Sponsors U.S.-China Relations Academic Conference

St. John’s University’s Institute of Asian Studies along with the U.S.-China Forum, the New York Chapter of the Overseas Chinese Association, the Society for Chinese American Studies and Outer Sky Press will hold an academic conference on U.S.-China Relations on Saturday, September 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The conference will take place at Sun Yat Sen Hall at St. John’s University’s Queens Campus.

10:15 - 11 a.m.
Scaling the Great Wall: The Opportunities and Challenges Facing U.S. Banks in China; remarks given by Michael J. Ranieri, Managing Director of Korean Center for International Finance based in New York and a graduate of St. John’s University

11 - 11:45 a.m.
The Energy Security Issue in Sino-American Relations in the 21st Century: The Russian Factor; remarks given by Ilya Nemchik, current St. John’s University graduate student working towards his M.A. degree in Asian Studies

11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The issue of Intellectual Property Protection in U.S.-China Trade Relations; remarks given by Erik H. Shen, Assistant Director of Asian Studies, St. John’s University

2:45 - 3:30 p.m.
