St. John’s Makes Study Abroad More Affordable than Ever! Reduction in Tuition for Programs This Summer

February 25, 2009

What could be better than summer in Paris or Rome? Sunny days and warm Mediterranean nights make summer a perfect time to study in Europe.

And what’s more appealing than visiting Beijing, the epicenter of Chinese art and culture?

This year, St. John’s University can help make studying in one of these ancient cities happen for you by offering a $1,000 deduction in tuition when you take two courses!

That’s it! Just register for six credits in any Global Studies program, for example Paris or Rome, and St. John’s will automatically deduct $1,000 off tuition. In addition, in an effort to keep summer programs affordable, the University is keeping this year’s program fees the same as last year’s. Where else could you get such a deal?

And this summer’s programs are to die for!

At St. John’s new Rome campus, take part in excursions to Paestrum, Pompeii, Florence, Siena, and Assisi during Summer Session One (May 29-June 29). Immerse yourself in Michelangelo’s Italy, studying art and Italian with St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences professors. Get down to business with International Tourism Management, an Italian Approach; Emergence of Modern Sport, or Special Topics in Sports Management, International Perspectives; or Business Management and Strategy; each taught by a College of Professional Studies faculty member. No matter which courses you choose, you’ll be getting a decidedly global outlook on the subject.

During Summer Session Two (July 3-August1), you can take Introduction to Mass Communications: Italy and pair it with one of several courses in Art. Remember: six credits equals $1,000 off!

Paris is on sale too! At the University’s new Paris site, you can take part in a joint program between Journalism and Media Studies and the Department of Languages and Literatures in Summer Pre-Session (May 18-June 5). Take both a French Class—either French 1010 or Intermediate French Conversation: Emphasis on the Media—as well as Media, Culture and Communication: France and ka-ching! You get $1,000 off your tuition.

Or picture yourself in the City of Light for Summer Session One (June 8-July 2), where you could mix a French language course with an art or music course, all taught by St. John’s faculty. That’s six credits earned, $1,000 off the cost and Paris for almost three full weeks. Imagine sketching the Eiffel Tower for your art project or practicing your French on a waiter in a Champs Elyseé bistro. What’s not to love?

China Too!
If the thought of studying in China intrigues you, St. John’s has the summer program for you.

From May 19-June 6, you can journey with faculty from our Institute of Asian Studies Peking University in Beijing and Zhejiang University in Hangzhou. Take your pick among courses in Chinese language, finance, sports, economy and more while you spend almost three weeks immersed in China’s culture. Above all, you’ll be able to engage the people of China. Once again, take two courses and get $1,000 off your tuition.
