Requesting housing on a New York Campus while studying abroad is
not as tricky as it may seem.
Students applying for housing for the full Academic Year follow
the same room selection procedure as on any New York Campus.
Students applying for housing for only the Spring Semester follow a
slightly different procedure.
Housing Requests for full Academic Year
(Fall-Spring):
- Make a housing deposit payment of $500 to St. John's University
by deadline provided (usually the first week of February).
- If you are found academically and judicially eligible
to apply for housing, a Housing Application will be emailed to your
St. John's email address and must be completed and submitted by the
deadline provided.
- You will be emailed an appointment date and time for housing
selection. Since you will be abroad during this time you must send
another person (proxy) in your place to select housing. If no one
else is available to act as a proxy, the Office of Residence Life
will send a representative to act on your behalf.
For more detailed information about housing selection for the
Academic Year, refer to the
Housing Selection Handbook.
Housing Requests for Spring
Semester only:
- Make a housing deposit of $500 between November and early
December (before winter break). Deposit should be made ASAP to
ensure housing availability.
- Email
Michelle McCullers with your housing request. Make sure to
specify a particular housing placement & room type (e.g. Hollis
Hall, double) as well as a roommate
(if applicable).
- When housing deposit is received, Michelle will email you a
Housing Selection Application. The application must be completed
and returned via mail or fax. This application CANNOT be
emailed.
- Michelle will notify you of your housing
placement in January.
Please keep in mind that payment of the housing deposit does
not guarantee housing, however it allows the Office of Residence
Life to determine a student's housing eligibility.
