January 8-May 4, 2009
Rome, the “Eternal City” is breathtaking. So much history lines
every street that you could have something to do everyday during
your semester abroad. The rest of Italy, outside of Rome, offers
picturesque landscapes and a chance to see areas that were once the
center of the modern world. However, before you can embark on this
journey, you have to complete several forms, and most importantly,
apply for a visa.
Orientation Information
The Office of Global Studies holds a number of different
orientations to help prepare you for your trip. Attending a
pre-departure orientation is mandatory. We hold in-person and
online orientations, allowing you to choose the one that best fits
your schedule. We will also be holding an orientation just for
parents, as well as orientations where you can learn more about the
visa process.
Visa Information
All participants will need to obtain a student visa prior to their
departure. We strive to make the process as easy and
expedient as possible, and have created checklists and
pre-completed forms to facilitate the process. While you will have
to apply for your visa individually, we are very familiar with the
application process, and have put together detailed instructions
and explanations. The consulates are very strict in their
requirements, so it is important that you follow these directions
carefully.
Important Forms
In addition to the obtaining a visa, you will need to turn in
important information like your medical forms, a waiver of
liability and photocopies of your passports. These documents
provide us with important information about you, and ensure that if
you have any problems while abroad, the Global Studies staff in
Europe and in New York will be able to help you right away. For
these reasons, deadlines are important. Handing forms in late—or
failing to hand in forms—may jeopardize your ability to participate
in the program. Make sure to follow all of our deadlines and be on
the lookout here and in your e-mail inbox for important reminders
and updates.
"Worldwide Wednesdays" - Weekly Email
Each week, we publish a newsletter with important upcoming
deadlines, advice on visa applications, travel tips, and other
helpful information for you. We will send this newsletter out via
email, and then post it here. The first week for the
newsletter will be at the end of September, and will continue until
your program departs. You can download previous weeks'
newsletters here.
