French Visa Steps and
Information:
Note: All students obtaining French
visas through our office will be required to attend an appointment
at the French Consulate in New York during the summer. If you live
outside of the New York City area and you will be unable to travel
to the consulate on the scheduled date (TBA) please let us know
immediately.
*The visa processing fee is $180.00 and will be applied to your
student account. If you decide to apply for a visa on your own, you
will be responsible for the cost of the Campus France and French
Consulate fees which total €99 (approximately $130). You will also
be responsible for applying through Campus France on your own,
making the French Consulate appointment and attending the French
Consulate appointment on your own. For information and instructions
on applying on your own, please click HERE.
Please note that the instructions listed below are for
students applying for the French visa through the Office of Global
Studies. If you are applying on your own, please contact us as
there are additional requirements and steps you'll need to take
into consideration.
Step 1: Complete the Campus France
registration process
Applying for a French visa is a two-step process. You first need to
apply for and receive clearance from the Campus France
organization. Then we can submit your visa application to the
French Consulate.
Because we know the Campus France application process can seem
daunting - we've organized two workshops for you to come and apply
with the assistance of an OGS staff member. We'll walk you through
the application and you'll be done in no time! Please let us know
if you are unable to attend one of the following workshops:
Workshop 1: Thursday, April 11, 2-3pm, Location TBA
Workshop 2: Thursday, May 2, 2-3pm, Location
TBA
If all goes accordingly, you should plan to spend about 20-30
minutes on the application.
If you can't make
one of these workshops, you will need to complete the Campus France
Registration process on your own by May 3 and
email us (globalstudies@stjohns.edu) with your Reference ID number.
Please use the following instructions to complete the registration
process:

Step 2: Complete the visa application
and collect all required documents
French Visa Application and
Checklist**
Please use the French Visa Application and Checklist as it contains
details regarding each requirement. We can only accept completed
application packets (this includes your passport) so make sure the
appropriate forms are notarized and you’ve made all the necessary
photocopies (we can help with the photocopying if need be). Follow
the checklist exactly and you shouldn’t have any issues!
Please contact
us if you won't be able to complete your application by
May 3
**Please note that these instructions are based on the requirements
for the group visa application and should only be used for student
applying for the French visa through the Office of Global Studies.
Please let us know if you are applying for the French visa on your
own as there are additional steps and requirements you'll need to
take into consideration.
Step 3: Submit your completed
application packet to the OGS by May 3
- You can bring your completed application packet to the Office
of Global Studies during walk-in hours:
- 9:00am - 4:00pm (Monday – Friday) on the Queens Campus
- 9:00am - 4:00pm (Monday – Tuesday) on the Staten Island
Campus
- Visiting students can mail the completed visa application
packets (along with your passport) to our office. Please use a
certified mail service (make sure you get a tracking number) and
address it to:

Step 4: Submit Campus France
Confirmation Email by May 31
Campus France Confirmation
This is an email sent to you
approving your application with Campus France application. You
should expect this email (mailed to your Campus France account)
approximately 2 – 3 weeks after submitting your Campus France
application. You will need to print this out and submit it to the
office by the deadline of May 31.
Step 5: RSVP and make plans to attend a French
Consulate appointment
While we are
processing the application on your behalf, the French Consulate
still needs you to complete the biometrics process in person. This
means you'll need to go to the consulate to have your fingerprints
and photographs taken. We've arranged shuttles from the Queens and
Staten Island campuses to take you to the consulate for our very
own biometrics processing appointment!
We have two
appointments with the French Consulate but we strongly recommend
you attend the first appointment in order to ensure your visa is
processed quickly and your passport is returned before the end of
the semester. Please note that you MUST attend one of
these appointments or you will not get a visa to go
abroad!
RSVP
required by (TBA) as there is limited space on the
bus!
Appointment 1:
