Bermuda

Travel to the breathtaking island of Bermuda this summer!

The interconnected 22-square-mile chain of islands surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean gives Bermuda a unique and breathtaking natural ecology. Bermuda is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom and is home to major insurance and financial institutions. In addition, it is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world.

Offered in partnership with the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo (BAMZ) www.bamz.org, this course brings students to historic and ecologically significant sites in Bermuda and nearby islands. Founded through the generous support of Joseph Smetana, a longtime supporter of St. John’s and a member of its Board of Governors, the program includes lodging, meals, transportation to and from field trips, boat use and equipment (You should know how to swim). Mr. Smetana also sits on the board of the Atlantic Conservation Partnership (ACP) www.atlanticconservationpartnership.com, which is the support charity that facilitates the summer program at the BAMZ host site.

Imagine gaining a deeper understanding of human and environmental ecology, as well as exposure to life in an island society while pursuing your coursework here at St. John’s!
