Spend your Semester in the "Eternal
City"
Accepted Students
Imagine yourself studying in Rome, the “Eternal City.” In the
course of a day, you may encounter remnants of Ancient Rome, like
Palatine Hill and the Colosseum, before discovering sites of
Renaissance Rome, like the breathtaking Trevi Fountain or the
Spanish Steps. In what other city could you have an audience with
the current pope in the morning and visit St. Peter's tomb in the
afternoon? Unlike the millions of tourists that visit this historic
city each year, students participating in the semester program in
Rome have enough time to fully immerse themselves in the city's
rich culture.
Spend a full semester or even a year at St. John’s University’s
campus in Rome, Italy — a premier academic institution in the heart
of the Eternal City. Located just a short walk away from the
Vatican, our
Rome Campus offers convenient access to the city's countless
historical sites. While there, you’ll conduct an in-depth
exploration of Italian history, language and culture, using the
distinctive academic resources of this remarkable city.
You'll also have the opportunity to explore the range of
cultural and geographic diversity of Italy found outside of Rome
through our semester excursion programs. The excursions, which are
fully included in your program fee, will allow you to explore the
cities of Florence, Siena and Pompeii, gaining a fuller
perspective on Italian society and culture while also connecting
your experience to your academic coursework.
With Rome as your classroom, you can practice for Italian
classes while chatting with locals in the markets, cafes and
churches; explore the masterpieces of Bernini in the Piazza Navona;
and marvel at baroque architecture and frescos of St. Peter’s while
attending Sunday Mass.
More information on the "Eternal City" can be found on the Lonely Planet
