St. John’s is proud to offer a series of internship
opportunities during the semester and summer months. In the past
students have worked in French government institutions, non-profit
companies, non-governmental organizations (NGO) and private
companies.
Students will generally have a non-paid three credit internship
that requires a 45 hour time commitment during the semester.
Internships require students to have an intermediate or above level
of French language competency. We offer internship opportunities
as:

International Internship - 3 credits
*(French level- Intermediate or above) - Government and Politics Internship
GOV 4913
International Internship - 3 credits
*(French level- Intermediate or above)
If you are interested in participating in an internship please
follow the instructions below:
- Include the appropriate Internship (MFL 3980 or GOV 4913)
course on your registration request.
- Complete an
internship application and prepare a resume and cover letter in
French. The resume and cover letter will be reviewed by Dr. Zoe Petropoulou, French
Department, Chair.
- The Office of Global Studies will provide Dr. Petropoulou with
your contact information and she will be in touch with you to
schedule an interview.
- If you are approved, your information will be forwarded to our
contact in Paris and they will work on arranging an internship with
you.
- Once in Paris, you will be required to write a diary of your
internship experience.
- As you work in Paris, our staff will assist you with logistics
of your internship such as how to travel to the work site; area and
local points of interest.
- The Internship will be graded on the following criteria:
attendance record, company’s record, and diary.
