St. John's in Seville
Seville is the newest addition to our innovative, multinational
study abroad experience, Discover the World. Considered to be the
cultural, historical and economic capital of Southern Spain,
Seville's tremendous wealth of history and its confluence of
Christian and Muslim cultural influence make it one of the most
unique and enchanting cities in Europe.
During their time in Seville, students will stay in the Albergue
Inturjoven residence, a government-managed facility that dedicates
a portion of its space to university students and other academic
groups. Located in the residential Reina Mercedes
neighborhood of the city, and directly off of the famous Paseo de
la Palmera, the Inturjoven residence provides students with all of
the amenities expected as part of the St. John's Global Studies
experience, including:
- Double and triple-occupancy rooms, each with its own
bathroom
- Individual room air conditioning units
- Free Wi-Fi on a St. John's private network
- 24 hour reception

Classes will be typically held at the Inturjoven residence,
although they may also take place at the University of Seville’s
Reina Mercedes Campus, located just a 5-10 minute walk from the
residence. The University of Seville is one of the top educational
institutions in Europe, with a history that dates back to the 16th
century and a reputation as one of the major centers of Spanish
culture. The university has been historically influential in both
political and ecclesiastical matters throughout the region.
Other highlights of the city include its lavish Holy Week
celebrations, colorful history as a hotbed for flamenco clubs and
its wealth of academic and historical resources, such as the
Archivo General de Indias, the world's largest compendium of
historical archives documenting the history of the Spanish empire
in the Americas and the Phillippines.
