Provost's Fellowship Seminar

An Integrative Capstone Course in the City of Light

Accepted Students

You've worked hard to make the most of your four years at St. John's, and now we want to give you the chance to make the most of your last semester. The Office of Global Studies and University Provost Dr. Julia Upton, RSM, Ph.D. are excited to introduce the Provost's Fellowship Seminar program. This all new program gives our highest-achieving seniors the opportunity to celebrate the culmination of their St. John's experience with a week-long trip to Paris, France.

Based around a hybrid distance-learning/study abroad course, THE 3050 "Integration Seminar: Shaping a Congruent Life," the program begins in Paris, where students will visit many of the city's great historical and religious landmarks while studying the history and culture of the city in a theological context. The course will continue through the Spring 2012 semester as a distance-learning class. The course will act as a capstone to students’ undergraduate studies, encouraging students to reflect on their St. John’s careers from a theological perspective, focusing on religious tradition, Vincentian values and ethical practice. The best part is, students selected to participate will only be required to pay for their airfare to and from Paris – all other expenses are paid!

Eligibility Requirements: Students must be entering their final semester of undergraduate study and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Students of all majors are encouraged to apply.

Costs: Students are responsible for the cost of airfare and any incidental costs (souvenirs, some meals, etc.). All other expenses will be paid by the university.

Application Deadline: November 7, 2011 (Visit the Apply Now page for more details.)

Travel Dates: January 4 - January 12, 2012
(Please note: students will arrive in Paris on January 4 and depart from Paris on January 12. If you depart from New York, for most flights you must leave the day before the arrival date.)
