The Passport Program consists
of one three-credit core course (descriptions below) and one
one-credit mini session in Rome for a total of four
credits.
DNY 1000C – Discover New
York
Students gain a comparative perspective on two of the world’s
greatest cities – New York City and Rome – and will expand upon
course themes such as urban planning, art and culture, and wealth
and poverty that all cities must handle. Credit: 3 semester
hours.
ENG 1000C - English
Composition
Using the “Eternal City” as inspiration, students fine-tune their
narrative skill through travel and personal story writing. Credit:
3 semester hours.
ENG 1100C - Literature in a
Global Context
Students have an opportunity to study great writers of both the
Western world and the non-Western world, with an emphasis on great
Italian authors. Credit: 3 semester hours.
THE 1000C – Perspectives on
Christianity: A Catholic Approach
Students are introduced to the values at the core of the Catholic
faith and observe the art, architecture, and tradition that
permeates the seat of the Catholic Church. All students, regardless
of religious affiliation, must take 1000C. Credit: 3 semester
hours.
PHI 1000C – Philosophy of the
Human Person
Students investigate the nature of human freedom, consciousness,
and cognition in New York City; they take their knowledge and
discuss the great Roman philosophers and their approach to art,
life, and spirituality during their session in Rome. Credit: 3
semester hours.
