As one of our best and brightest students in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences program, we’re inviting you to further explore healthcare systems and the importance of leadership amongst a backdrop of Rome, Italy! This program gives our highest-achieving sixth-year students who have an interest in leadership or who have served in leadership activities during their collegiate careers the opportunity to celebrate their College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences experience with a week-long trip to the Eternal City.
The program will begin in Rome, where you will visit many of the city's great historical and cultural landmarks while studying the practice of pharmacy in two of the world’s leading urban centers (Rome and New York City).

- PHR 6103 – Pharmacy Leadership and Advocacy (3 credit pharmacy elective)
The course will begin with two three-hour lectures on leadership theory and team building. During the week in Rome, students may also have the opportunity to visit a pharmacy school. Other activities will include visits to (a) historic Pharmacy(ies) and/or health related museums (medicinal gardens), service learning involvement, a Papal audience, and a Pharmacy focused team building scavenger hunt linked to material/people in the course.
Credits: Each course is 3 credits
Please note: these courses will be part of your Spring semester course load. Students will return to the Queens campus to complete their remaining coursework.

Eligibility Requirements: All students must be sixth year Pharmacy students with an interest in leadership. Select fifth year students may be considered based on the application pool and nomination by a faculty advisor of a student organization. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
Travel Dates: January 3 - January 10, 2014 (7 nights)
(Please note: students will arrive in Rome on January 3, and depart from Rome on January 10. You will likely need to leave one day before the arrival date).
Accommodations: St. John's Rome Campus
Meals Included: 2 meals per day, for 4 days. Please note that other meals will be eaten independently, so be sure to budget accordingly.
Costs: Students are responsible for a $250 non-refundable deposit/program fee, tuition and the cost of airfare, plus any incidental costs (souvenirs, some meals, etc.).
*Tuition and airfare are in addition to the deposit/program fee. For undergraduate students, this course will be included in their normal semester tuition bill as long as they meet full-time student status (12 to 18 credits). Graduate students will be billed separately for tuition and fees based on the prevailing cost of tuition for their designated college.
