Apply Now for Great Study Abroad Options at St. John’s

August 25, 2011

Though life may present her with other opportunities to travel, Elizabeth Miller ‘13CPS is sure that nothing will outshine the first time she saw Europe through the Global Studies Program at St. John’s University.

“It was wonderful,” Elizabeth says of St. John’s Discover the World program, which lets students live and learn in three European cities in a single semester. “We were in gorgeous neighborhoods, a short walk to some of the most famous sites in the world.”

In fact, studying abroad is a big reason why Elizabeth came to St. John’s. “I was very impressed when I heard that students can get financial aid specifically to study abroad,” she said. “I think every student should do it.”

Now is the time for St. John’s students to apply for this spring’s study abroad options through Discover the World, says Matthew G. Pucciarelli, Associate Vice President of Global Studies at St. John’s.

“You have to act fast,” he notes. “Even though there’s still time for spring and winter, the opportunities usually don’t last.”

This spring, students can apply for Discover the World: Europe, which allows students to spend their study abroad semester in three great cities — Rome, Italy; Paris, France; and Seville, Spain.

In Italy, students live at St. John’s centrally located campus in Rome. The Paris segment features St. John’s beautiful facility in the city’s popular St.-Germain district. In Spain, students live and learn in the cosmopolitan city of Seville.

Or they can apply for one of the University’s semester-long programs in either Rome or Paris. These city-specific programs give students an entire semester at the University’s Rome campus or Paris center.

The choices are more varied when students consider the study abroad programs scheduled for the Winter Intersession. Check the Global Studies’ program’s Winter Intersession site for details.
