As you consider the many options available for your student’s
education, the decision to send your child abroad has the potential
to be one of the most beneficial decisions you could ever
make. St. John’s has a variety of programs to choose from, all of
which are dedicated to providing excellent academics and cultural
immersion in a safe environment.
We are here to help work with you and your student to help you
decide which program is best. We are also here to answer any
question that you may have about studying abroad. Our staff–both in
New York and abroad—is available to work with you at every stage of
the process.
As your student goes through the application process and,
ultimately, departs for his or her time abroad, he/she enters the
elite group of students that spend time abroad—currently,
just under 10% of college graduates study abroad.
By taking advantage of a Global Studies program, students acquire a
true competitive advantage in today’s increasingly international
marketplace. St. John’s is proud to offer a unique mix of classes
and programs, all of which incorporate cultural integration,
including hands-on service learning.
We look forward to welcoming you and your student to our Global
Studies family and encourage you to contact us if you have any
questions.
Special Note for Parents with Students on Upcoming Study
Abroad Programs: we strongly encourage you to read through
our
Parent Letter, which provides additional advice aimed
specifically at preparing with your student for their time abroad.
In addition, we'd love for you to attend one of our
Parent Pre-Departure Sessions.
Sincerely,
The Office of Global Studies
