How am I compensated?
Please speak with Marisa Barone directly if you have any
questions about compensation.
How many students are needed for each course?
The target enrollment for all faculty-led programs is 10.
When will I know whether or not my program is
running?
Our office will contact you first to let you know that your
program has been given the green light, typically 6 weeks before
departure or sooner, depending on the number of confirmed
students.
If your program does not reach the enrollment goal, it runs the
risk of being cancelled. Our office will work with you to
make any decisions regarding program cancellation.
What is the site-specific orientation?
This orientation is meant to be led by the faculty leader.
It gives you the opportunity to meet your students, go over your
academic expectations, discuss the details of your program, and
distribute materials for your course. OGS will schedule the
orientation and secure a location. A representative from OGS
will also be present to answer questions of a more general
nature.
I have led programs abroad in the past. Do I
still need to submit a proposal form?
Yes, you must submit a proposal form, along with an updated
syllabus.
What if I have an emergency abroad?
The chance of an emergency occurring during your program is
rare, but rest assured that you will not be alone. OGS always
has someone on-call, 24/7. The university has protocols in
place designed for particular emergency situations. There are
many resources on campus that you will probably not be aware
of. While we may not always know the answers, we will know
who to contact on campus.
Are all of my expenses covered while I am abroad?
Yes. Our office will cover the costs of your airfare,
accommodations, meals, local transportation, and site entrance
fees. Please be mindful of keeping all receipts. To
help keep you organized, it might be helpful to keep each day's
receipts in a separate envelope. Once you return to NY, you
must submit a T&E within 30 days of
program completion.
Can students from other colleges and universities
participate in my program?
Definitely! We always welcome visiting students on our
programs.
