In keeping with our Vincentian heritage, St. John’s is
committed to the intellectual, spiritual, and personal development
of its students. Furthermore, our programs foster social awareness
by encouraging—and sometimes “requiring”—student to give back
through Academic Service-Learning opportunities.
For example, you might study “The Economics of
Poverty & Income Inequality” in Paris, then serve in a local
soup kitchen as a way to “connect the dots” between classroom
learning and hands-on experience of the French social system. Or
you might come to understand modern Spain through Seville’s
“Language & Culture” class, then continue learning from young
Spaniards—the culture’s next generation—through English language
teaching and service.
